The Justice System

These pages explain what you can expect of the justice system, as a victim or witness of crime, from reporting a crime to after the trial concludes. More detailed information and support about the Justice System can be found the below.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) have developed Easy Read guides for victims. They will also tell you what will happen if you tell the police that you have been a victim of a crime. There is one guide for victims of any crime, and one guide for victims of rape or serious sexual assault. These guides do not include all the information but will tell you about the important parts. You can access these guides here.
